# NightBlooming

> NightBlooming is a one-woman business in Minnesota making handmade herbal hair care: plant-based hair color, cleansing and conditioning treatments, scalp and growth care, detanglers, and oil and mist blends. Melissa Lynn Herold blends every product in small batches from powders, herbs, and oils, with no PPD, metallic salts, or synthetic additives. She also writes and sells fantasy fiction and hair care books.

Products are vegan, cruelty-free, and hand-blended, and they ship in reusable glass containers or biodegradable, recyclable, and compostable pouches with upcycled packing materials.

The plant colors are named for mythological and fictional figures rather than for shades, so the color line reads as a cast of names. Each is a blend of specific herbs: henna for red, cassia and senna for golden tones, indigo for depth, amla for conditioning and tone control. Senna and cassia are not henna, and indigo is not henna, so a product's name and its herb list are the reliable guide rather than any shorthand category.

The single most-read page on this site is the lunar hair care calendar, which gives the traditional lunar timing for haircuts, trims, and deep treatments, and is rewritten for each new year.
