Ingredients
Henna (Lawsonia Inermis)The powdered leaves of this desert plant creates a permanent red-orange dye that both colors and strengthens hair. Henna also deposits a natural, moisture-permeable plant wax that helps reduce moisture loss and smooths the cortex. More, Chamomile flowers (Matricaria recutita)A plant with a long-standing reverence as a beneficial herb for both hair and skin. Chamomile flowers sooth itching on the scalp and smooths the hair cuticle, giving shine, conditioning, and, to very pale hair, weak golden tones. More, Ginger Root (Zingiber officinale)The most widely used and available herbal remedy on the planet, ginger helps to promote circulation and detoxification and thus may aid in hair growth. This herb also adds a pleasant scent to the herbal blend. More, Horsetail (Shavegrass, Equisetum arvense)One of the most abundant sources of silica in the plant kingdom, it is an essential building block of hair, adding strength and encouraging growth. More, Yellow Dock (Rumex crispus)Soothing to the scalp, this herb has been used for centuries to heal inflamed, weeping, irritated skin conditions. More, Burdock Root (Arctium lappa)Contains mucilage and starches that soothes irritated skin and membranes and is one of the most effective herbs for promoting hair growth and reducing the amount of hair shed. More, Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis)Soothes both the skin and scalp, it provides excellent relief from skin and scalp irritation while leaving hair soft and shining. More, Aloe Leaf (Aloe Vera)Soothing and nurturing, aloe leaf provides many of the elements effective in fighting hair loss: Biotin, b-vitamins, zinc and inositil. It also contains anti-bacterial properties that keep the scalp healthy by controlling scalp infections that can prohibit hair growth. More, Hibiscus Flowers (Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis)An emollient (meaning it helps the cuticle of the hair lay down) and a demulcent (meaning it leaves a light soothing film behind) this herb has a cooling effect. It is also an excellent natural conditioner that may impart a warm reddish color to hair. More, and Stinging Nettle Leaf (Urtica dioica)Often called nature’s conditioner, Stinging Nettle is natural deep cleanser useful for oily skin and hair that promotes hair growth. More.

I’ve been using this henna for over three years now and it never disappoints! I read Melissa’s ebook (which I highly recommend) before taking the plunge, and I’d never go back to commercial color now. It took a few tries before nailing the right shade down, but Melissa was always extremely helpful when it came to trouble shooting.
Pictured here is a 50/50 blend of the Fire Genasi and the Kitsune Firefox. I usually make a tisane using the Sunlit Meadow herbal tea and use that for my added liquid, but I have used water and a little apple cider vinegar with success, too. I leave it on for three hours, along with my eyebrows (I tried many different methods for keeping my brows covered and moist, from using cling wrap to squares of ziploc bag taped down, and finally decided to use packing tape. Works like a charm, haha, and I’ve had no allergic reactions.)
For reference, my natural color is a light sandy blonde (as shown in the first picture) and my complexion is fair with both pink and yellow undertones. I tried to get a few pics in different lighting to show some color variation, I hope it helps!
Melissa has answered countless questions in the time I’ve been shopping from Nightblooming, her heart is in everything she does and it shows in every correspondence. I will buy this magical mud for life! Haha

My friend was wanting to dye her hair darker and redder but dye damages her hair and makes it very unmanageable so we decided to try henna. I ordered 2 100g of Kitsune to try and it worked great! The dye release was beautiful and it washed out very smooth. Her hair is very thick and still around a level 4 – 5 with some greys throughout. Kitsune brought her hair back to that warm dark burgundy I remember her having in our early twenties. She wants it a bit darker so in a month or two we will do another full head application with the second 100g packet maybe with some alma added. I also tried some of the leftover Kitsune on a clump of my shed hairs just for fun. Such a vibrant color!
The product itself is packaged beautifully and thoughtfully as is everything Nightblooming creates. The new website is great!

it smells really earthy and herbal, it brings out my natural tones to the surface and my grays turn into a golden reddish tone, it’s lovely.

I bought a sample of this just to see what natural dyes could do. Kitsune is really pretty! It’s more red copper than orangey copper but it’s still a really natural color. I’ll definitely be visiting this store again. Thanks Melissa!

I took the plunge to order from nightblooming because: 1) she knows her stuff, 2) her blends sound amazing.
Now, I have dark hair myself so I didn’t expect much color wise, I mainly do it for the hair and scalp benefits. The color turned our amazing. My hair looks like a dark burgundy now. I really, really love the color.
The blend has less of that typical henna smell, and has other conditioning plant based ingredients. So that is a big plus factor. I ordered two packets, but one was enough for my fine hair. Also, I ordered it from Europe with the cheapest shipping option, and the products came within a week. Wow!
Next time I will probably order the shampoo and conditioner bar!

I am in love with the vibrant dimensions of red Kitsune has given my hair. Deep crimson reds from roots to mid and bright fiery copper on the lighter ends of my length. I mixed with camomile tea, added essential oils I chose for their properties after consulting with Melissa’s hair rehabilitation book, and activated using the crock pot method. I applied to freshly washed, but dry hair without any product in hair. I left on about 6 hours before rinsing. Rinsing out was surprisingly smooth and quicker than I’d experienced with other hennas. After rinsing out I put 5 drops of Melissa’s Triple Moon oil from ears down. Couldn’t have imagined better results. Thank you!

I’ve been dying my hair for years, but it just got too pricey. A friend turned me on to Night Blooming, and I am in love! The color transformed by auburn died hair to a rich, deep red, and covered my light brown/dusty blonde roots wonderfully! The “henna fire” was brightest the day after I dyed it, but it oxidized wonderfully. Fair warning, though – henna will get everywhere during the dye process! It didn’t stain anything, but it was everywhere.
