What is a solid shampoo bar?
A shampoo bar is the solid form of the liquid version. Unlike “hair soaps” which are alkaline and can damage hair, shampoo bars are pH balanced. The matching pH helps your hair and scalp maintain a tight cuticle and healthy acid mantle. Lassëa Solid Shampoo Bars are much more gentle than traditional liquid shampoos, hair soaps, and even other shampoo bars. They’re packed with gentle cleansers, slippery herbs, and soothing oils, but still give a satisfying lather.

What makes Lassëa Unique and Amazing?
Both what’s in it, and what isn’t! Most shampoo and conditioner bars are stuffed full of oils, but as we’ve discussed in the past, oils are not moisturizing. You’ll find truly moisturizing ingredients like Slippery ElmDescription Ulmus rubra is a species of elm that has a mucilaginous inner bark, and it is this that gives natural slip and hydration to Selkie. It also naturally softens hair, provide natural plant protein, adds shine, and soothes an itchy or dry scalp More and Aloe Vera GelWhile well-known for its benefits to skin, this mucilaginous ingredient provides deep moisturizing effects to the hair and scalp as well. These bars also use paraben-free and formaldehyde-free preservatives and pure essential oils rather than fragrance oils.
Essentially, I took everything you love about Selkie Herbal Detangler and turned it into a pH balanced, moisturizing, naturally detangling shampoo and conditioner bar set. The bars radiate NightBlooming’s signature Eventide aroma of crisp sea-spray over alluring sun-basked vanilla and herbs.

Melyssa –
My favorite shampoo & conditioner of all time…I just had to stop by & leave a review. The lengths of my hair have been recovering for some damage that occurred a few years back following an illness which led to breakage, frailty, it feeling rough…all that fun stuff. Thankfully the medical issue is under control & I’m doing my best to grow out the healthy hair while gently caring for the lengths & I can’t tell you what a lifesaver these bars have been. The scent alone is worth it because it’s so gentle & woody that every washing is like a luxury spa treatment yet so incredibly gentle. My hair is so incredibly super soft that anyone would be hard pressed at how unhealthy it was just a few years ago. I also use the shampoo bar as a face wash on my ultra sensitive skin which has worked wonders to help keep it soft, radiant & clear. I couldn’t recommend using Melissa’s bars more highly & followed by the salve & the tiniest bit of one of her oils & I’m loving my hair again & feeling so good about my regrowth journey. My hair was formerly classic length & hennaed unfortunately following the illness I had to pause henna & do a cut to above bra strap length. Now it’s just my natural woodsy light/medium brown but growing out super healthy.

I have only used the conditioner so far and maybe I should wait for my hair to finish drying before reviewing, but the scent caused no sensory issues or headaches for me, and so I am very excited. It’s also milder and more pleasant than the “unscented” conditioner I was using before this. Wonderfully slippery for in-shower detangling, and I think the parts of my hair that have dried are a bit shinier and more ringlet-y than usual.

Coming back to leave a proper review now that I’ve been using these for several months.
These are great. I hope I never have to go back to other shampoos and conditioners.
The shampoo hits the right balance of being cleansing enough to get my scalp clean without stripping too much oil from my hair. Usually I only apply it to my scalp and roots, but when I suspect I my hair has buildup I also put it on the length and it’s the only shampoo I’ve ever encountered that makes my hair *easier* to detangle instead of harder.
Conventional advice for fine hair is to only use very light conditioners to avoid “weighing it down,” but my hair has always preferred to be aggressively moisturized, and this conditioner is perfect for that–I apply it generously and meticulously, try to let it sit for a couple minutes, and then wash about 90% of it out. Since I don’t wash out all of the conditioner, the scent lingers, but when dry it’s faint enough I only notice it when holding my hair right next to my nose.
I can’t emphasize enough how much I appreciate the transparency in how this product is described. Last year I set out to find unscented hair products, which turns out to be a very frustrating process when “unscented” is sometimes the name of a scent and even fragrance-free products can still have strongly scented ingredients. The fact that Himalayan cedarwood is right there in the name of the product and also discussed in the description (and also in the easy-to-find ingredient list) meant I could make an educated guess about whether it would work for me without having to scour the page for the information I needed. And the result is that it not only causes no problems but also smells very nice and works very well for my hair.
