What Sarenrae Does
Sarenrae is a golden blonde hair color built from cassia and senna. Both plants carry chrysophanic acid, a translucent yellow dye, and that dye is where all of the color comes from. There is no henna in this blend, and that absence is deliberate: henna’s red would pull the gold toward copper.
Because plant dye is translucent, Sarenrae lays its color over your own hair instead of replacing it. On white, gray and very pale blonde hair it reads as a clear sunny gold. On medium and dark hair it deposits no visible color at all and works as a deep conditioning treatment instead.
Who Sarenrae Is For
Grays and whites you want turned gold. This is what most Sarenrae customers buy it for. The grays come out a soft sunny blonde and the pigmented hair around them warms a little, so the two blend together instead of striping. One customer’s gray coverage, step by step.
Blondes who have gone flat or ashy. Sarenrae puts the gold back with no lifting, no bleach and no developer.
Dark hair that needs strength. On brown and black hair Sarenrae is a conditioning treatment. Expect softness, shine and body, and expect the color to stay where it is. How senna conditions hair.
If you want that same warmth with a blush of pink in it, Rusalki is the next color along the line. For cassia on its own with nothing blended in, there is Daybreak.
What to Expect
It fades, so plan on reapplying. Cassia and senna deposit rather than bind permanently, and the gold typically softens over four to eight weeks. Most people re-treat on roughly that rhythm.
Hard water can turn cassia greenish. Mineral residue already sitting on your hair reacts with the dye and casts green. Alluvial Chelating Crystal Rinse removes that residue and prevents it coming back. If your water is hard, use Alluvial first.
Strand test before you commit. The 10g sample exists for exactly this. See All five gold-to-red colors tested side by side on virgin ash blonde hair, then read the guide to making test locks.
Ingredients
Cassia (Senna italica)Sometimes called Cassia Obovata, this plant contains moderate levels of Chrysophanic acid, which both gives a golden dye and has anti-fungal and anti bacterial properties. Often, this golden color fades in 4-8 weeks. More, Senna (Senna alexandrea)This plant contains high amounts of Chrysophanic acid, which both gives a golden dye and has anti-fungal and anti bacterial properties. Often, this golden color fades in 4-8 weeks. More, Chamomile flowers (Matricaria recutita)A plant with a long-standing reverence as a beneficial herb for both hair and skin. It also contains anti-bacterial properties that keep the scalp healthy by controlling scalp infections that can prohibit hair growth. More, Hibiscus Flowers (Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis)An emollient (meaning it helps the cuticle of the hair lay down) and a demulcent (meaning it leaves a light soothing film behind) this herb has a cooling effect. Mineral residue on your hair can make Sarenrae and other cassia-containing colors take on a green hue. Alluvial both cures and prevents this.

Tried this on my boyfriend’s hair. The dye didn’t take because I let it sit out for way too long, but the treatment still left his hair feeling softer and looking more luxurious than before!

The best part about this coloring is how great my hair feels afterwards! My husband always comments on how full my hair looks.
Leave it on the dull rime for gray hair.

I never received my order.

Upon seeing this I immediately reached out to the customer. She already had the tracking number from when the order was dispatched, showing it was due to be delivered the next day. Re-sent the tracking and assured her it would likely be there the next day, and asked her to let me know if it didn’t arrive. She never responded, but the package was marked as delivered the net day.

Beautiful henna. I felt that Sarenrae was not quite red enough for me. I ended up mixing Kitsune with Rusalki for a nice fiery red.

This is such an amazing product; it magically turns my medium ashy blonde/white hair into a lovely shade of blonde. I usually mix it with the Daybreak Senna depending on my needs. I mix them with chamomile tea, lemon juice and orange blossom honey then let it color release until its ready. I usually let it on my hair longer overnight and that does the trick for me personally. It leaves my hair soft, shiny and with a vibrant color.

The Sarenrae Herbal hair color produced a very pretty blonde that was not too yellow. There was a slight green tint to some of my hair but after using the Alluvial Crystal Rinse, the green was gone. My hair is so soft after using the Serenrae. Looking forward to using again in the future.

This colored my white hairs a golden blonde, which was a bit highlighter yellow for the first day, but mellowed into a sunny golden that covered my grays and warmed up my brown hair underneath. I mixed it with chamomile tea and warmed it in my instant pot for about 3 hours, then applied it – it was one of the messiest applications ever! (and I am a hairdresser who offers henna at my salon)- I think that my instant pot may have been too hot, and dried it out a bit, nevertheless, I wrapped it up in saran wrap and left it on for 2.5 hours, and it looks great! I am thrilled because I have been seeking a natural blonde herbal color for a while and they are all strawberry or ginger blonde, but this is genuine golden. I would caution anyone with mineral or hard water to get the Alluvial Chelating Crystal Rinse and use it first, as my sister ended up with a very Highlighter Yellow/green cast to her color and she lives somewhere with harder water that deposited on her hair even though she used distilled water in the mix. Anyway, I am very happy with this color, and the shampoo and conditioner bars as well! Thanks so much Melissa.
